you don''t need to spend lots of money on gadgets that toy sales people tell you are educational.

Puzzles are great at this age - peg puzzles and also some two or four or six piece puzzles.
Blocks she can build with.
A jar or shoe box with different shapes cut in the lid that she can post things through, or you can buy shape sorters.
Stacking and nesting cups that she can also use in the bath to pour water in and out of.
Rings that she can stack.
Books that you can read to her.
A doll or other soft toy.
flour on a baking tray that she can draw shapes into with her fingers.
crayons and paper to draw on.

I don''t have much time for occupational therapists, however, if you want to buy a book with good ideas for genuinely stimulating toys you can make at home or buy cheaply, then one written by an occupational therapist is the way to go. Just don''t fall into the trap of needing to take your child to see one to learn how to hold their pencil or learn colours and shapes - you really can teach all that at home and its the teachers job to do so at schoo.
