too many bowel movements?

My son, 3 in August, has up to 5 or 6 poos a day. They are not properly formed/solid, or they have small bits of food in them. He also plays with it, and I can''t get him to stop. Is it normal for a boy of his age to have bowel movements like this, or should I have it checked out?

This is not normal especially as his stools are not solid.Your son may have a food intolerance or be reacting to too much fruit and especially the natural sugar called fructose in his diet. Try him off ll fruit and fruit juice for a few days and see if there is a difference. If not, he may have an intolerance to wheat or milk. Try him on a completely dairy free diet for 2 days and again see if he improves,if not try him on a completely wheat free diet for 2 days.If he does not improve it would be best to ask your paediatrician to see him.
