Childhood Diseases

Hi Doc

I wrote to you last week about my 13month old having fever and vomiting.I took him to a paediatrician as you suggested and you were spot on - he has tonsillitis. Thank you so much! The paediatrician prescribed an antibiotic and gave me empaped suppositories. The antibiotic is a course of five days (10 doses) but as my child vomited some of the antibiotics, I have however only given him 8 of the 10 doses. Should I get more antibiotics as he still is feverish - every time I stop using the empaped his tempertaure increases (this morning it was 38.1) For how long can I use the empaped? He is however eating and drinking better this morning, but since Saturday he has a rash of pink spots all over his body and face which wont subside. What should I do?

It now appears that the most likely illness your baby has is Roseola or baby measles. The rash will last a day or two and then disappear and his fever will subside. He does not need any further antibiotics.
