Q.

Tonsillectomy - traditional or ultrasound?

My 3-year old daughter' s tonsils need to be removed. We are faced with the option between the normal surgical method, or the harmonical scalpel (ultrasound method). I like the idea of less pain, less blood promised by the latter method, but some people i speak to about the option seem to be very negative about what they claim they have heard about it. What is your opinion on the matter?

The ultrasonic method of tonsil removal is supposed to result in less bleeding and is considered to be effective and safe. There is also the added benefit of less pain. It seems that this is a good option to take if your ENT surgeon is experienced with using this method of removing tonsils.
