Tonsilitis (Fourth time) now gatvol

hi there

my son is turning 11 months now on the 22 september and he was yesterday at the emergency unit, fever 39.5. Turns out he has chronic bacterial tonsilitis. What my question is, this is the fourth time my son has tonsilitis, he just finished his last antibiotic last week thursday. paed now gave Prozef suspension.

I am tired of getting this tonsilitis, is there no way we can have it removed?
How do you get bacterial tonsilitis?
mY son is not in a creche but by grandma who is 49 years of age?

What can i do, my normal paed is still off on leave for another week and we had to see the stand in paed.

Your son has had at least 4 episodes of tonsillitis in less than a year.He should be seen by an ENT specialist as soon as possible. The specialist will decide whether he should have his tonsils removed and when.

I can relate what you are going through - had the same problem with my son. His tonsils were removed at 17 months and he was a different child!!! As I understand it, if a child gets tonsilitis more than 4 times per year it should be removed.

Good luck!!

oh and doc, just another note, i called his ENT and he said he was happy to take it out at 11 months but my mom advised me not too because the tonsils still play a vital role. what is your opinion, if the ENT is happy to take it out, should i or should i rather persevere and wait
