TONSILITIS

Must my 9-yr old remove tonsils if tonsilitis only once a year?

It is not usually necessary for children of this age to have their tonsils removed especially with only one episode of tonsillitis per year. Sometimes it may be necessary to remove tonsils that have become enlarged and cause breathing difficulty when sleeping or if the tonsils become persistently infected.
