Hi Doc,

This is the third time that my toddler has been diagnosed with tonsilitus since the beginning of the year. When is it advised to consider removing them?

Thank you again

In most situations it is adviseable to remove the tonsils once a child has had 5 tonsil infections on a single year. Sometimes if the infections are severe or if the tonsils are unusually large and interfere with breathing then the operation is recommended earlier.

Hi Pip

My son is now 20 months old and he was on antibiotics permanently since January. He had tonsilitis 6 times to date and is currently in hospital with bronchitis and TONSILITIS again.
His paed eventually gave us a referral, so his tonsils are being removed on Monday.

Good luck girl, I know how you feel.
