Q.

Tonsilitis

Hi Doc, my son is 18months old and is plagued by the dreaded tonsils. He' s constantly sick from them - leading to bronchitis, flu etc. His paed has said they will need to come out, but only when he' s 2. So until then, we' ve got to get through winter... help!!! I give him Viral guard vitamin syrup every morning, but is there some else I can give him to stop getting tonsilitis every second week? He can' t live on antibiotics so often!

Your son is having a really bad time with tonsillitis. Your paediatrician is correct that most ENT surgeons like to wait until children are 2 years old before removing their tonsils. In the meantime keep him on a probiotic such as Probiflora Childrens and also Viral Choice Junior.
