Q.

Toilet issues with my son

Morning Doctor
My son has just turned 4 and he is still pooing in a nappy.
He tells me when he wants to poo and I ask him if he would like to poo in the potty/toilet and he tries but nothing happens. He is scared that he might fall down the toilet. What can I do to help my child? I have bought one of those seats for the toilet but he still can' t do it. Thank you

hi, my son is 2.5 and almost fully potty trained, altho I am prepared for any drawbacks. I find getting him to poo on the toilet is easier if I give him something to play with. He likes to be left alone and calls me once he' s done. Maybe try giving him somehting colourful to get his mind of concentrating so hard on making a poo, and let him sit there for a while playing with his toy, then he might not focus on doing it so much and become comfortable. Good Luck!

WAT EK GEDOEN MET MY SEUNTJIE WAS OM HOM OP DIE POTJIE TE SIT VOOR DIE TV, TERWYL SY GUNSTELING DVD SPEEL. DIE EERSE KEER HET DIT LANK GENEEM VOOR IETS GEBEUR HET, MAAR DIT HET AL VINNIGER EN MAKLIKER GERAAK EN LATER HET EK NET DIE POTJIE LAAT VERDWYN.
