toddler with bad breath

My son (4) had his tonsils and adenoids removed a year ago. He seems to have the same bad breath now as when he had tonsilitis. I thought perhaps it was post nasil drip but seems to have lasted for 3 weeks now, not developing into anything else. What can we do? (we do brush his tongue when he brushes his teeth)

He has been on asthma meds for 2 years and on Zyrtec for 6 months (5mls every night)

It is unusual for a young child to have bad breath, especially when tonsils and adenoids have been removed. The most likely cause is chronic mouth breathing. Does your child possibly have a blocked nose due to nasal allergy and is mouth breathing because of this? Try using a Sterimar nasal spray twice daily to clear your son's nose and hopefully his bad breath will stop.
