It is very odd that your little toddler is now not sayng anything at all. Also odd is that he had grommets fitted 3 months ago which should have improved his hearing. I am rather doubtful as to whether your little son can hear normally. His hearing should be re-tested.

My baby turns 20 monyhs next week. She is learning new words quickly. But, I remember that she " lost"  a lot of words ofter being in hospital last year.
I have heard that babies should be able to say 100 words when they are 2 years old.... my baby is not nearly there!
So I am very interested in the experts answer.

I am the eldest of 4 kids, and if I remember my moms stories correctly, my sister was the only one that really talked by the time she was 2 years old - and we all turned out fine?
