Toddler Snores and Sleeps with face down

Hi Doc,

My 2 year old son had his adenoids removed last year and his snoring somehow improved but now he has started snoring loudly again as if its sleep apnea and sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night and lifts his head and then sleeps with his face down. I can tell that it is disturbing his sleep because he is not even eating well.

Please help

This is an important question. Young children should not snore. When they do it means that they have severe nasal obstruction. The danger is that your son may develop sleep apnoea. The most likely cause is enlarged adenoids in a child of your son's age. It is possible that his adenoids were not completely removed last year or that they have grown again. He must be seen by an ENT specialist as soon as possible.
