Please help me out here, I have a 3 year old son who seem to be having trouble swallowing his food. He keeps his food in his mouth for some time before swallowing, he doesn' t seem to be in pain, and the other thing is he doesn' t want to chew his food.

Please help I just don' t know what to do.

I presume that there have not been any concerns regarding your son's mental development to date. This way of eating is known as 'rumination' It can be a reaction to a stressful situation but in most cases no cause is found and this habit simply passes over.If he persists with ruminating his food for longer than another 1 month he should be seen by a paediatrician.

Is he a premature baby cos mine also had the same problem, he is 3yrs now and he was not chewing his food, he was just swallowing without chewing then i took him to his paediatrician, he said i mustn' t worry he will chew when time goes on, when he feels like but atleast now he is improving, he will eat meat and spit it out after sucking/chewing the salt. Before he was only eating marshed food or pap &  inkomasi only but now he can eat rice, biscuits and other staff
