Toddler eating habits

Dear Prof

My 19 mo son is going through a poor eating phase and sometimes eats only a Wheatbix and 2 yogurts all day. He drinks 250 ml S26 Gold at bed time. Other than that, he he has the post-viral wheeze for which he is taking Singulair and 2 puffs of Combivent twice a day, plus Allecet. He remains a very happy and very active boy. This poor eating is now entering week 3, when does one start becoming concerned?

Many thanks.

Do not be at all concerned. Many children of this age eat poorly for a while.your son will eat what he needs. He may be swallowing some mucous that he coughs up following his recent viral chest infection. This mucous often causes children to be off their food. There is no need to give him Allecet if he is not allergic as this is an antihistamine syrup and will not help for conditions that do not have an allergic cause.
