Q.

Toddler behaviour

Is it normal that a 2 year old always prefers comfort from his Mom than his Dad? Any particular reason why? Would it be wise that in teaching him discipline that the Mom ignores him when he cries after doing something ''naughty'' or seeks comfort/sympathy?

This is perfectly normal behaviour at this age. As your son's mother you need to be there for him and to comfort and reassure him when necessary. It is important to give your son a strong feeling of love and security. His dad should also be there for him. He should play with him as much as possible and also take as much of a part in parenting as possible. His turn will soon come. Both parents must play a role in disciplining their child and both should speak with one voice and not give mixed messages to the child with one parent saying no and the other yes for example.
