Toddler 22Months complaining of pain

Hi Doc

I wrote to you a couple of weeks ago about my toddler that was sick on and off for 11 weeks...Well he is sick again (stays with granny and cousin during the day), I took him to the doc on Thursday, with a fever 38.4 2 hours after nurofen, GP said it is a throat infection, and gave Clamentin 5ml 3 times a day (my son weigths 13.3kg 89cm). The fever stopped on Friday, he was a little better. Then on Saturday he started to say eina eina, when I pick him up, or when he stretches. I assume that his body is sore, so I have been giving him Ponstan 7.5ml 3 times a day if he complains. He is also not his normal self...he has not been sleeping great, he is irritable, and cries for no reason.

Please advice?

Your young son has been ill for along time and now has a high fever again. In particulatr he appears to be sore when when he is picked up. This symptom is often seen in young children with meningitis. Please take him to an emergency paediatric unit where he can be properly examined and a clear diagnosis of his problem can be made.
