Q.

thumbsucking

Hi doc! My little girl is 2 &  half years old. She loves sucking her thumb &  her right thumb looks terrible. I''ve tried stop &  grow among other meds but to no avail. Please advise as to what other methods would help to stop this habit. thanks in advance.

Thumbsucking is a very common habit in young children. It is comforting for children of this age especially when they are falling asleep. There is usually no obvious reason for children to develop this habit, but all children will stop this habit usually well before they start going to school.Try to ignore this habit as much as possible and do not keep on mentioning it or drawing her attention to her thumbsucking. As with all habits, the more that you draw her attention to her thumbsucking the longer it will take to disappear. Make sure that her nose is clear.
