Throat infection

Hello Dr
I am so glad to see you back on the forum. I do hope you had a lovely festive season and a good break from the H24 moms. All the best to your for 2009.
My baby (13 months) is sick again. We had him at casulaties over the weekend and he has a throat infection and his throat was very inflamed. He was given antibiotics and I have been using panada and ponstan suppositories to keep his temp under control which has only now after three days subsided and I am not having to use the suppositories. I am giving him a probiotic once a day. The problem is that his throat is very irritated which is making him cough and vomit and he keeps bringing up the antibiotic so I am worried about a re infection. Last month he had tonsilitis and laryngitis and the month before that upper resp infection. He has been sick every month for the last seven months. He has no blocked or runny nose so thats all clear but he is very miserable and not himself. His eyes are red with blue rings and he is not eating at all.
I really cannot believe that he is sick again as he is at home with me all day and neither me nor my husband are ever sick.
Do you think I need to take him back to the Dr or just wait it out?
Thank you!

Thank you. What is really needed in your son's case is a proper diagnosis of his problem. You need to know if his illness is due to recurrent adenoid and tonsil infections or if he is an allergic child? Also you need to know why he gets ill so often although he is at home and does not attend a creche? You need to take him to see a paediatrician and you must not leave his/ her rooms until you have clear answers to the questions I have listed above.
