Three year old chewing his clothes

Hello Dr, my three year old has recently started creche. I have noticed that he now likes chewing on wool stuff life blankets and his T___shirts. The other day when I picked him up, his T-shirt had a hole in it. What could be causing this cause he is a happy boy, he is not sick or anything and now that he goes to creche, he is even more social and has friends of his age in the complex I am staying in. Looking forward to your response.

This is a very common habit and despite your son's appearance of being happy,he is a bit shy or self-concious or has just developed this habit at the moment. It could be something at the creche or just a stage he is going through but it will soon pass. Just reassure him and don't draw his attention to his chewing his clothes as this often increases the habit. If you see him chewing his clothes divert his attention onto something else. Check again that all is well at the creche and that there are no bullies around.
