Teething problems

My son is now 16months and has such difficulty teething! He only has 8teeth by now and when he''s teething he gets VERY constipated, why is this?

When the tooth cut through the gums we are so happy but then a few days later the tooth is " gone"  again! Then a month or so later he must go through the pain again for that tooth! Why is this happening and is it normal?

It is perfectly normal for your child to only have 8 teeth at 16 months. Unfortunately some children have a more difficult time than others when teething and this seems to be the situation with your little son. Teething does not usually cause constipation. Make sure that your son drinks enough water every day especially during hot weather. Sometimes certain of the growth formulas may cause some toddlers to become constipated. Be careful not to give any medicines for pain that contain codeine such as Stopayne as this certainly can cause constipation.
