teething in 2 yr old

I have a 2 and a half year old son and I thought that he had all his teeth already, to my surprise he''s been putting his hands in his mouth and drooling quite a bit. He also has a runny tummy and he threw up as well. On Friday he started with the runny tummy, all he has been eating are yoghurts and mashed potatoe, He has been asking for water quite often as well. yesterday he threw up again and had a runny stool again, what could this be, could it just be due to the teething, I have checked his mouth and the back top molars are definately through the gum I can see it please help

Some of your son's symptoms may be due to teething, but his diarrhoea is not. He seems to have a gastric infection probably due to a virus infection, possibly the Rotavirus. Give him Rehidrat to drink as often as he will drink it, even if he takes frequent sips. This is to replace the body salts [electrolytes] he is losing through the diarrhoea. Do not give him fruit juice or any fruit to eat other than grated apple at this time.He can continue to eat rice and potato as well as having plain yoghurt. If his diarrhoea persists he should be seen by a doctor
