My baby is 10 weeks old she''s chewing her hand and scratching her gums is it possible that she''s teething and what can I use to soothe it

Your baby is still very young to be starting to teethe. She is probably exploring and discovering her hands at this stage so no treatment is needed. She will start teething in earnest at about 5 months and then you can treat her if necessary. Using a soothing teething gel on her gums at that time will be the safest.

Babies discover their hands at about this time, its not related to teething.

Teething causes teeth. There might be some gum pain as the tooth cuts, but a bit of gel or calpol or nurofen helps with that. Also, chewing on rubber teething rings or a cold face cloth. The rings you make cold in the fridge are usually too big for babies mouths. Babies get a first tooth somewhere between about 4 and 16 months, with the average age being around 7 months.

Babies feel with their mouths, so they mouth toys, their hands, anything new and interesting.

Babies don''t get dirrhea or runny noses or coughs from teething. They get those if they''re sick.

Amber teething necklaces are plastic beads and could choke or strangle baby.
