Q.

Symptoms in 8 year old boy

My son is eight years old. He complains of a chronic sore throat. Other symptoms include an excess amount of saliva. He hasn''t been eating as much as usual. What could be the cause of this and do I need to take him to a doctor. It does not looks like he has a temperature. Thank you

It is difficult to be sure about your son's illness without being able to see him, but he may be getting mumps. Another possibility is that he has a tonsil or throat infection. please ask your doctor to see him if he is still complaining about a sore throat.
