Q.

Swollen Lymphs

Dear doc

My baby is a healthy 8 month old. He had 2 swollen lymphs at the back of his neck when he was +/- 6 weeks old, only for a few days by which they disapeared.

He''s 8 months now and I noticed another swollen lymph behind his left ear. His busy teething and has been restless for the last 4 days. Could the teething cause the swollen lymph behind his ear?

The most likely cause of this enlarged lymph gland is a recent ear infection which has probably healed by itself. It is unlikely to be due to teething. This enlarged gland may take several months to disappear. No treatment is necessary unless your baby has a fever and seems to be pulling on his left ear.
