swollen Eye

Hi

My 6 yr old daughter woke up with a swollen eye yesterday morning. The swelling decreased in the night but the eyelid was still red. It did not hurt or itch. I just took it to be an insect bite.

Howver, this morning when she woke up her other eye is swollen.

She doesnt hac=ve a cold besdies a bit of hayfeve- a few sniffles but not a cold. What could be wrong?

This does sound like an allergic reaction and could be due to an insect bite. There is one problem and that is that your daughter's eyes do not itch. There are other causes of swollen eyes in children especially infections of the eyelid and the eye. For this reason it would be best for her to be seen by your doctor.
