Swimming when sick

My 2.5 year old daughter is sick again... 2 weeks after starting school this year. She has a bit of a cough and a runny nose. My question is. Can I still take her to swimming lessons or will it make her worse. The reason I ask, is because she had such a long break over the December holidays and she has just started to enjoy the lessons again, and I really don''t want to start from scratch and have her cry for the first 5 lessons again.

Is it just an old wives tale that swimming when sick will make you worse? We are still in the water with her so it is not too physically strenuous on her.

It is usually not advisable for a young child with a viral illness such a cold to swim.Vigorous exercise is not recommneded when children have viral illnesses such as colds and flu. If your child has a fever swimming is definitely not advised.
