Swallowing air

since birth my 15-month old son swallows air whenever he drinks. Be it from the breast, bottle, cup etc. He also gets hiccups regularly and hardly ever farts or burps. It is difficult to get him to sleep as the winds seem to wake him up as soon as he becomes relaxed and I often find he seems to resist sleeping because of this.

I have taken him to the chriro, to the doctor and for body stress relief. No difference. What is causing this?

Swallowing air while drinking is very common in young children especially in so-called 'greedy feeders' who suck hard and drink too fast, gulping down the feed. The only thing that you can do is to make him sit upright after feeds and even though he is older than usual for this, you will need to pat him on the back and rub his back while he is sitting upright to try to get him to burp out the wind.
