Q.

sugical staples

Hi Doc, is it a normal practice to insert surgical staples in a head wound of a 3 year old child. And if so, without any local anesthetic like numbing cream?

I have never heard of inserting staples in a head wound in a young child before and certainly not without a local or even a short general anaesthetic.

My daughter had a nasty fall at creche and it left a head wound about 1cm long on her head. The doc inserted one surgical staple without any anesthetic... so you saying that this is not the norm....what should I do? Should I report him or what?
