Stomach cramps - 9 month old

Dear Prof

My 9 month old son has suddenly started getting stomach cramps in the night. He is breastfed, and eats porridge for breakfast, cooked lunch, and Goodnights porridge or Purity Goodnights desserts for dinner. His diet changed recently when he started the cooked lunches, which contained broccolli and cauliflower. I initially thought that was the problem, but since Friday he has been eating the Purity lamb and fruit meals (he is very used to that with now problems) , although I got him the nr 3 instead of the nr 2 as usual. The one night he ate the nr 2 meal he didn''t have cramps but on the nr 3 meal he appeared to have cramps again? it is very unusual for him. What could be causing the sudden cramps? he is also constipated, which I find very surprising as he is a breastfed baby. What could be causing this sudden change?

Many thanks - it is a blessing that we may draw from your excellent expertise and advice!

Thank you,you are very welcome. It is very possible that the cauliflower or broccoli started off your baby's stomach cramps. These vegetables contain high levels of oxalates and can have this effect. It is also possible that he still needs very finely pureed foods now so do not be in too much of a hurry to move him onto the next stage of the Purity range, or you can make your own fine pureed vegetables, fruit and lamb for him.
