Q.

Starting solids

Hello doc!

In your opinion, when is the best time to start solids?
And what must I look out for?

My boy will be 5 months next week, and the lady at the creche said she thinks he is ready...
I am still exclusively breastfeeding...

I want to wait a bit longer, as he is still sleeping well and so on!
And we are struggling with his sister with allergies.

O, and when can I stop sterilizing his bottles?

Thank you so much!

You should wait until your baby son is 6 months before starting him on solids as you have a family history of allergies.Start him on a rice cereal or a maize cereal. You can stop sterilising his bottles when he is 6 months old.
