Spider bite

Dear Doc

My 9y old showed me a bite mark on his upper thigh - quite high up. It has two bite marks about 1cm apart - perfectly parallel. I think it is a spider bite. The area around the bite is swollen and red. He is not complaining of pain on the bite - but in his groin - I noticed that the lymp nodes in his groin on the leg that the bite is, is swollen. Do we need to do anything? I have no idea what kind of spider it was at all.

This does sound like spider bites. Some spider bites can become infected or may be due to a venomous spider bite such as the violin spider. It would be best to ask your doctor to see your son.
