Speechproblem in child

My 4 year old daughter can only communicate with one or two word sentences. It seems as if she has difficulty pronouncing most words. She demonstrates a few of the signs associated with autism like placing toys in rows, repeating what you speak to her and excellent at building 150pc puzzles. She is also terrified of people. Is there anything I can do and where can I go for help.

This is a good question and you have written a very clear description of your daughter's problem.I agree that autism or rather the autism syndrome is a possible diagnosis that needs to be considered here. It would be best to consult a paediatric neurologist in the first instance. There are experts in all the main centres in SA. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
