Childhood Diseases

Hi, I' m a deeply concerned parent of a 2 years and four months baby boy. My baby has not yet been able utter clear words nor tried sentence/word combinations, I' m quite happy with his receptive part of his speech as he can hear when being spoken to, but my main concern is his expressive speech. Just to give you background, he stays at home with a child minder who' s often too quite and fails to chat to him during the day. I' m even convinced that his delay is caused by that, should I be worried? I' m even contemplating taking him for an initial observation with either a speech therapist or a Paediatrician. Your contribution is greatly appreciated. Regards

Many young boys are a bit late with speaking. I am not so sure that the minder is to blame here as your son will get plenty of stimulation and language input from you and his mom when you are at home.As he does not appear to be saying anything clearly at nearly 2 and a half years it would be a good idea to consult a speech therapist now.
