Q.

Speaking problem

Hi,

My Son is 3 years and its his first year at creche, his teacher tells me that he has said a word in class. But he is participating in activities. Should i take my child for speech therapy, because i noticed that he can express himself( when he wants something) loudly even when he is talking to us at home.

I presume from what you have written here that your son speaks normally at home.If you think that he is talking too loudly he may have a problem with his hearing. It would be worthwhile having an audiology test done to check on his hearing if you suspect this may be a problem. He may just be very shy at the creche. The other children have probably been there for at least one year already, while he has only started this year.It would be a good idea if he made at least one friend of his age there and eventually he will feel more at home and will start speaking to the teacher.
