From your description it seems that your baby son has a viral infection in his mouth and throat known as Herpes stomatitis. The sores are very painful and can last for 10 days or longer. The main problem is that children who have these sores in their mouths will not eat or drink and may become dehydrated. It is best to take your baby to be seen by a paediatrician or at a paediatric after hours clinic so that he can be correctly treated.
