Sores in the mouth

My 6 month Old has sores in the mouth &  tounge which have now spread to the back of the throat for about a week now. I am currently giving her medication called oral suspesion and Panado for pain which i got from the local clinic. My worry is she is not eating nor drinking anything at the moment. Is there anything i can give her to improve her appetite, or is there an antibiotic that can be prescribed. Im not sure if i should take her to a doctor at this stage. Please help.

Your baby has a severe virus infection of her mouth called herpes stomatitis. The danger is that she may become dehydrated because it is too painful for her to drink her bottle or eat anything. Please take her to be seen by a paediatrician.

Hi Concerned mom

My lb had the same thing - it lasted in total for 10 days and he ate nothing and drank very little during that time. I eventually got Daktarin oral gel and it worked very well.
