Hi there,

My 3 year ols son has after an hernia operation developed pimple like warts rouns his eyes.It will come and go,but on Friday morning he stood up and his eyelid was swollend and red.We then took him to our GP which prescriped anti-biotic and some allergex. The problem is now that there''s yellow pus present and his eye is still swollen and very red and sore.We clean it with luke warm water and needs to know what we can do as it looks like it''s getting worse. He has been using the anti-biotics for 3 days now.

Your son appears to have a very severe eye infection which is not responding to treatment. He probably has a have a virus eye infection caused by the herpes virus. He does not have an eye allergy so he should not be taking Allergex [an antihistamine] which will make him sleepy and miserable. He needs to be seen by an eye specialist so that he can be correctly diagnosed and treated[including sending a sample of the pus from his eye to the laboratory]This should be done ASAP.Possibly your best move would be to take him to an after hours emergency paediatric clinic.
