Q.

Sore Cough

Hi there i would just like to find out...my son is almost 9 months old and he has a terrible cough especially at night and early in the mornings when we have to take him to the day care and there is kind of a whistling sound when he breathes...we have had him at the doctor a few times and the last time they gave us antibiotics which seemed to work, as well as venteze for the nebuliser. i would just like to find out if it would be better to go to the doc again or is there something else i could try??? When he coughs he also moans or cries sometimes. we nebulise him still now but with saline water...

It is possible that your baby has dveloped a problem called post-viral wheeze. This follows on a viral infection of the chest known as bronchiolitis. The coughing and wheezing can continue for a long period. Ask your doctor to start him on Singulair Sprinkles every evening and not to give him any more antibiotics as they do not help for this problem.
