Dear Dr my son breathes very heavy thats the way he has always been he is not sick that is flu etc but I am now concerned whether that breathing is normal
my pead told me to be concerned when the chest goes in his does that sometimes he will struggle to breathe but then he breathes again he was fine from birth This is jsut a concern of mine what do you suggest i do about it just to put my mine at ease I guess a dr would have to see him sleep to know waht i mean thanks

I am concerned about your son's breathing.I am not sure from your description whether he has a blocked nose which is affecting his breathing or if it is his chest itself that is the problem. Also it is not clear whether he stops breathing at times. If he stops breathing for a few seconds at a time this may be due to a very blocked nose and is known as sleep apnoea. If it is his chest that is worrying him he may well have asthma. Either way he really needs to be seen by a paediatrician so that a proper diagnosis can be made of his problem.
