Q.

solids

Dear Doc

my baby is 4.5 months old and 3 weeks ago he weight 8.10 kg.
I am breastfeeding him and about 4 weeks ago i started him on novalac but no solids yet.
he is teething, with drools and nibbling on everything, he reeaches for a poon and a plate in my hands, well AND everything else that he is sees.
At birth he weighed 3.7kg.
i would like to know if now is the time to introduce solids or should i wait for his 6 month birthday.
i do not want to rush or delay him unecessarily because he seems happy and gets full from his feeds.

Your baby's weight is exactly on the average for his age. He is probably drooling because he is showing the first signs of teething.there is no need to start him on solids yet as you mention that he is content and judging by his weight he is doing very well on his present feeds.
