Q.

Solids

Dear Paed, my son is 4 mths old and the clinic sister advised us to start him on cereal, he is a big boy. He is currently on Cerelac Rice cereal, 2 tsp in the morning and 2 tsp for supper. He has been on solids for 3 weeks now. When can I start introducing a veggie? If I do start veggies, do I replace the cereal or give it in addition as a lunch? How long do they stay on the cereal for?

You can continue with the cereal and the amount can be increased as he gets older. You can introduce vegetables now or a fruit such as apple or pear.If he is formula fed you may need to give him a more satisfying formula for hungry babies such as Lactogen.
