Solid Advice needed. PLEASE..

Hi there,

My daughter was born prem at 35 weeks, all is well and is on par with her growth, above weight and etc, she is now 7.5 months old. The problem started about 2 weeks ago, runny nose, dry cough and got worse and phlemy, within 2-3 days she lost her voice and very bad cough, took her to doctor last week teusday, today a week, she had laryngitis in nasal and throat, was on antibio, cough meds, illiadin, some other med syrup. By thursday I would expect some major improvement but she is not 100% yet, still a hoarse voice and was on meds till yesterday and for 2 months now she doesnt sleep well, very gassy and farts alot from about 11-12pm and moans in her sleep and wakes for her bottle, I give it to her and falls asleep quickly but wakes again shortly. Put her to bed round 7 - 7:30pm sleeps till about 12 midnight then its every 20-30 minutes waking and farting till about 3-4am then sleeps till 6 am. I am so tired and dont know what to do anymore. She drinks her bottle in morning, is eating nestum maize cereal round 9-10am, homemade veg sweet potato and potato round 1-2pm then rooi/tea and milk then supper chick/veg or beef/veg puree. Started solid foods slowly and one thing at a time. she has suffered with gas since she was 3 months old. Breastfed very well for 3 months till I went back to work, is on nan 2 now. I have spoken to clinic and doctor but I get told its not a problem, to me it doesnt seem right. Please advice me..

This is probably a reaction to the antibiotic which your baby was given recently. Stop all medicines and only use Salex nose drops twice daily to clear her nose. Give her a probiotic such as Reuteri drops 5 drops daily for 10 days.Your baby has had a bad cold caused by a virus and will get better by herself. Viral illnesses do not respond to antibiotics in any case.

Oh yes and the doctor told me it was not croup, her chest is still clear and we got it just in time before it got worse, she is eating and drinking well. Her voice when she cries is not 100% yet, when she talks in baby language its almost clear, wish she could clear her throat and blow her nose. no fever, also for a 4 days now she flushes with red cheeks and then normal again.
