Q.

Snotty Nose for continuous month

Hi,
My 1 year old has had a snotty nose for at least the past month (but has been suffering with this problem for at least 3 months). She goes to creche during the day. The paed prescribed the following: 2.5ml Deselex (every night), sachet of Singulair Sprinkles (every night) and Flixonase twice a day. In my opinion this hasn' t made any difference at all. It' s gone from clear running to green, yellow and now back to clear.
I don' t know what to do for her anymore....

Your baby has an infection in her nose. This is not an allergy as the mucous discharge is green. So you can stop the Deselex which is an antihistamine and won't help at all and also the Flixonase which is a cortisone nasal spray used for nasal allergy. You can also stop the Singulair as well as this is used to prevent asthma.Your baby probably has enlarged and infected adenoids. Please arrange an appointment for her to be seen by an ENT specialist.
