Q.

Sleeplessness - Sportron Melotone

I' ve read that some moms give their children Melotone from Sportron. I' ve been using it now for about 2 weeks, but I can' t really see a difference in my child of 18 months. She' s a terrible sleeper and very hyper (as they all are at that age). But when will I see an improvement at bedtime for her? I give her the Melotone syrup in the morning. Can I give it to her at night time or do you think that will make her more hyper? I thought that the Melotone syrup is supposed to calm them. She' s also drinking Floradex Iron Supplement in the morning. Her sleeping habits went from bad to worst. She might be teething again. She' s up every hour. I' m 7 months pregnant and exhausted at night. I don' t even want to go to bed anymore - cause I know she will wake up anyway. She' s starting creche on Wednesday - so hopefully that will be the answer. Getting the stimulation and playing around and eating. She' s also a terrible eater. Eats no meat or vegetables. Please give me advice.

Melatonin is a natural hormone which is secreted by the pineal gland in the brain. It has been used in children who are very restless sleepers. The problem is that the correct dosage is not known and children differ widely in their response to this hormone. It may be that the dose you are using is too low. It is always best to work with your paediatrician before using melatonin for your baby.

My son was on concerta for a year but got very fat. Then I heard about melotone syrup, he is on it for 4 weeks know but he struggles to fall a sleep, he's suddenly very scared for everything. Can this be off the melotone or not. Cant see any changes in his school work yet. He is ten years.

You should give it before bedtime. My son was also a restless sleeper. It has now almost been a year later and since night 1 he has slept an average of 12 hours every night.

There is a huge difference between Melotone from Sportron and Melatonin. Please visit the Sportron webpage.
