Q.

Sleepless Nights

My daughter is almost 2 and a half and is still not speaking. Is this normal for some kids? Also she still wakes up at night. What should I do?

Many childrren do start speaking late. This seems to be more common in boys than with girls. It is important to make sure that she can hear properly so she needs to have her hearing tested by an audiologist. If her hearing is normal and she is still not talking by 3 years she must be seen by a speech therapist. You do not give much information about her waking at night. Does she wake for a drink of milk or for some other reason? If she has a blocked nose this could keep her awake. If she does clear her nose by using Salex nose drops twice a day.

Either for the dummy or a drink either milk or water. If I dont give her any of the three she starts throwing a tantrum.
