Please help. My son are 3yrs and 4 months old. I have been struggling with he’ s sleep pattern from birth. He just does not want to sleep in the evenings. Even if I put him to bed at 20h00 I can hear him tossing and turning until 22h00. He keeps on calling and ask for water which result in him having to go to the bathroom later on. When he eventually sleeps he’ s restless and talks in his sleep throughout out the night. he does''nt get nightmares he just talks about what happend through the day. I have noticed that certain foods makes him hyper active and have cut it out of he’ s diet hoping that it would make an improvement. He still does not sleep well, he sleep through when he eventually falls asleep but just getting him to sleep takes about two hours. He’ s at crè che during the day and they do take a nap but he refuse to weekends and he’ s still not exhausted in the evening even if we had a hectic day he does not fall asleep easily. He have been diagnosed with asthma a few months ago but I doubt that it could have an effect. What can I do please?

You do not mention if your son is on any medicines for his asthma because some asthma treatments can sometimes cause this kind of problem. Please let me know if he is on asthma treatment and I will advise you which medicines may be responsible for his restlessness. If he is not on any asthma treatment then it may be worthwhile trying your son on Rescue Remedy.Speak to your pharmacist about the correct dose for your son. If this does not help then the next step would be to try Melatonin. Again you would need to speak to your pharmacist about the correct dose for your son.

check the asthma medication that he is taking - the singulair made my daughter strange and not sleep. Also toss and turn and talk in her sleep. It he isnt on singulair then check the other medication.
