Sleeping at night

Good day Dr

I need your assistance urgently, as I am at my wits end.

My daughter is 1 year and 10 months and has never been a good sleeper with the effect that I had to quite my job.

I have spoken to her peadiatrician and he prescribed melatonin to give before she goes to sleep at night.

Now this tablets knocks her out almost immediately, however 2 hours after that she will wake up then we need to settle her down and then every hour after that she will wake up. Now she has been sleep trained and falls asleep on her own however at night time she refuses to fall asleep by herself. It is as if she is scared. I will then ly down next to her and then she will fall asleep, however wakes up whenever she feels we are not next to her anymore.

Please let me know if there is any herbal product that will help her stay asleep.

Your help is aprreciated.

I am not sure from your question whether your little girl's sleep pattern has been made worse by the melatonin she had recently. She has become used to having you sleep next to her and will not sleep until you do so. You have even had to give up your job presumanbly because you are not getting any sleep. You can try Rescue drops which is a flower extract and is safe for children of this age.
