Skin rash

Good day dr. MY LG is 26 months old and started with a rash on her legs. I initially thought it was mosquito bites but it is getting more and itching. I have started to use mike mozzie spray for kids to keep the mosquitos away. The rash then spread to her arms. It is a small pimple like rash with definite whitish spots in the middle. There is no fluids, she is not feverish, eating well, sleeping well. Basically her normal self. I took her to the GP on friday as our pead is on leave. He prescribed antibiotics because he was afraid of an staphylocis infection. The rash is still there and not improving. It is itching ans she is scratching it. I' ve started to use calamine lotion which seems to help for the itching. Any advice?

This rash is probably due to insect bites and is known as papaular urticaria.A single bite from a mosquito or flea causes all the other spots to appear. The rash is very itchy and can last for a long time. It is difficult to treat. Apply calamine lotion to the rash and give your daughter Vitamin B1 25mg daily for 3 months to stop the insect bites.Ask your pharmacist about the Vitamin B1 also known as Thiamine, This usually comes in tablet form which you will have to crush and mix with a little jam or apple sauce as the tablets are bitter.
