skin infection?

Hi Doc,
my 5 month old son has some reddish rashes round his neck (where there are folds) but they seem to be spreading a little bit,its really raw and very painful.could it be heat rashes or an infection?? pls help

This appears to be a candida rash. This is often started off by your baby dribbling and getting his bib wet or clothing around his neck. Try Nystatin cream applied twice a day. If the rash does not clear after 1 week ask your paediatrician to see him.
