Dear Doc

My son started having flu yesterday, started coughing, he cries saying when he coughs the chest is painful, and the phlegm is irritating his throat, so much that the throat is also painful, eyes are teary. The Pharmacist gave him Durro Tuss and some thing for runny nose and sneezing. Is it still too early to take him to the doctor, must I rather wait for the medication to work on not work ormust i just take him to the doctor, the medicine given , do u think they might work for his cough? I''m scared of pneumonia.

I am concerned that your son is complaining about his chest being painful when he coughs. he may well have a kind of pneumonia known as 'atypical pneumonia' as he has not been ill for long yet seems to be quite ill already. It would be best to ask your doctor to see him especially as the weekend is coming up.
